Many travelers know Liguria only for its Cinque Terre or Genoa. But the Ligurian coast is a striking landscape of cliffs, beaches, uncompromised seaside towns and remote inland villages that stretches all the way from Cinque Terre to the French border. Its microclimate affords residents a temperate winter (lemon and orange trees along the sea are rich with fruits even in January).
Local tour leader Andrea Marchesini grants travelers an insider’s look into two distinct slices of Ligurian life off the main roads and well-traveled paths of this picturesque coastal region. Signature flavors on “Liguria, Undiscovered Villages” include pesto and focaccia, for which the region is famous and local white grapes such as Pigato and Bianchetta Genovese and local reds Ormeasco and Rossese.
